The Science

  • The study results indicated that TTRPG engagement produces several social benefits for young adults with autism. Although participants demonstrated diversity in their personal histories, difficulties, and goals, all described a process of joining a creative community and thriving socially within that TTRPG community.

  • TTRPGs have the potential to, over time, improve the communicative abilities of players, all through the process of enjoying a game rather than intentionally practicing skills.

  • Participants identified this intervention [TTRPGs] working particularly well with adolescents, but could be applied to clients of any age group. Participants identified the client tailored narrative as the most unique and beneficial aspect this intervention does well that other interventions do not.
